Walmart Honduran Style

Seivert is right, we are sitting at the Mall right now. Pretty much everyone has purchased new underwear, since our clothes were left in Vallecillo, and some have gotten a new shuirt to wear. Though we are not in an ideal situation, everyone is having a great time doing a little bargain hunting. Sr. Renae just showed me her new red rubber shoes. The guys showed me their baseball shirts, purchased for $5, and their brightly colored flowered shorts. Believe me, it will be quite the fashion show at the hotel in San Pedro Sula. Many of the students have volunteered to be in the last group to return. I think they just want to miss more school. We had a great breakfast at the hotel. McDonalds was our restaurant of choice for lunch. We haven't even thought of supper yet, but I'm sure we'll be well-fed. I'm going to attempt a photo upload from the Mall so you can see how totally relaxed we all are. I couldn't be more happy with the behavior of the students at this point. They are enjoying their new adventure, and our taxi group decided to name this year's mission project Task Force Agua - similar to Task Force Bravo, the military operation that did a health study and clinic in Montana de la Flor. NOTE: The Gehlen students want Miss Rogers to know that her Spanish phrases, such as 'so much smoke' are finally coming in handy!

  1. Carolyn- Looking at the picture in the mall...you look right at home on your computer :) Right now, Fabio and I just set up Netflix at our house. (He thinks it is awesome and will probably be either at our house ALL the time now or ask you to get it when you get home!) Fabio went over to your house this afternoon and mowed before it rained. Pakka and Angel are doing good. Lyndsi seems pretty happy about staying at your house a few more nights. She is getting used to Angel sleeping on her during the night! Mya misses her grandma. We have sent lots of pictures to your phone, so when you turn it on...beware! We all hope you can get home soon even though we know you will probably be one of the last ones to return home. We miss you!!

  4. Wow! Bailee I thought you were in some remote place. WalMart and McDonalds, I don't ever want to hear anything about how difficult things were. Do they have senior cokes there. If you have run out of money, borrow from Fr. Cosgove and I will pay him back. gma and gpa.

  5. Becca-shopping again. Who would have thought you would have 2 shopping days so far on your trip. Glad to hear you are going to San Pedro. It sounds like your chances to fly are better. What an adventure for you all. What stories you will have to tell. Love you and miss you. Mom

  9. Greg,
The family is wondering how often you have volunteered to be in the 'last group" out?? We pray often for your team's return, but we are at peace knowing you are in good hands and will come home when the timing is right. God-speed to All.

  10. Becca- your car doesn't leak water. I drove home in the rain and I never got wet.

Steve- Twins are picking up their play. It was a good try with the Air Guard. To bad it didn't work.
