Paint the day away

Today everyone was up and at it again early to have another productive day. We made it up to the worksite and jumped right in with finishing up building and started painting. We plugged away until it was time for lunch.

After lunch we loaded up the tin to start on the roofs while a few headed out to deliver more bags to families. We wanted to end early at the worksite but the motivation was there and everyone just kept going. We also lucked out and missed out on rain showers that parted to miss us. By the end of the day, house one painting is done and the roof is on. House 2 is all but done with painting and ready to raise the roof. House 3 is done with siding and next to paint.

We came back to the school and ate more yummy food followed by vanilla cake with tres leches filling and decorated to honor “Super Gabe” with a picture of a shower head for restoring water as it still is much appreciated by all especially after long work days like today.

After Junta and cake, everyone scattered to play soccer with kids and just relax. Tomorrow will be a quieter day building beds, and staying at the school. Keep the comments coming as Anne and Theresa get asked frequently how many comments we have for that day!!!

  1. Sounds like there was great progress made today on the houses. Happy to hear the rain missed you all. I'm sure delivering bags to families is so rewarding:) Everyone looks like they are having a good time while working hard!!
Today was sunny here so all the snow is pretty much gone again. Let's hope that was the last of it, fingers crossed. Nevaeh, dad wanted me to tell you the Iowa Women beat Colorado 87-77!!!! Kaitlin had 31 points & 8 assists!!! Looks like Iowa will play Louisville on Sunday to get into the Final 4! Drake has Elijah staying the night and he is going to sleep in your bed...Blue is so happy to have a friend over for a slumber party!!! Poor Elijah...Blue has terrible gas tonight. Stinky guy. The Celtics have a tourney tomorrow in Sioux Falls. I will let you know how they turn out. I'm staying busy at work, as usual. We miss you! Prayers being said for all of you:) We love you Vaeh!!!!

  2. Good morning missioners. Looks like you are making wonderful progress. David, I am heading out to the farm to continue my plumbing project. Pray for me, that I can make some progress as well. Uncle Dave is supposed to be arriving today and will be staying just a couple of days at the farm. I might try to prune that apple tree we looked at the other day. I will have to see if I can get Chris to use the pole chainsaw and maybe get him in the loader bucket so we can trim those longer branches down a bit. I would hate to hit the house when we remove the large limb. There are a couple maple trees growing too close to the house too that should go. There might be quite a pile of wood to move to the grove when you get back, we'll see. I found an old baseball in Grandpa's tool box yesterday, I wanted to get it out and play catch, I really miss you. Take care. Love, Dad!

  3. Good morning Trevor, Jenna and team! I hope you have been able to sleep some and the sounds of nature and the local critters haven’t kept you up too much. I can imagine after working so hard you hopefully all crash when it comes to for rest time and bedtime. Well I’m off to drop off boys at little Joe’s as they have a scout AED class at Joe and Lori’s church. Then head to Nena and Papa’s to see Hudson and Milo while Rachael helps at dance. It’s donut day a day early…wait everyday should be donut day 😂 Anyway, we love and miss you both so much! Keep working hard and know how much you are loved, missed and being prayed for. Can’t wait to see you both and hear all about your experience. We love you and are so proud of you both! ❤️ Dad and Danielle

Carter: Hi Trevor and Jenna, I miss you and hope you’re doing good and working hard.

Beau: Hey Trevor and Jenna, hope you’re doing good, you’re missing some pretty good basketball. Miss ya and good luck with all your projects.

  4. Everyone looks so happy and the smiles on all your faces brings so much joy to my heart!! Sounds like you all are working hard to get everything done. Zayne did you get the recipe for the cake, it sounds delicious. However, we know I won't be the one baking it, I'll have to forward that on to Grandma Jean Ann:) We are staying busy here at home as well. Joss has made it a whole week of track and two days of softball, she was moving very fast yesterday. She is a bit dramatic, but love her for it anyways. Dad plan to put your rims on today, so you'll look sharp in your truck when you arrive back. Ava decided that she has never driven a truck, so she hopped in your truck yesterday and took it for a spin. She said it was too big to park it back where it was, so of course dad had to go move it. Quade feels HORRIBLE and doesn't want you to get mad, but unfortunately lost your streak with Ryan. He thought Joss did it, but she did not. He was mortified last night, I said it will be fine, Zayne will be extra nice to you when he is home;) Dad is starting to miss you like crazy, he told us last night, by next week he is really going to be missing his boy. Of course I do too, but that smile on your face with that little girl brings nothing but pure happiness and tears to my eyes. In sports news, more upsets. San Diego St took out Alabama, my bracket is done. Miami beat Houston as well, so another 1 seed knocked out. Princeton and Creighton was a good game but the Bluejays pulled it off and are going to the elite 8, first time ever. Texas did win, so maybe there is some hope for you, Scott thinks you'll win the Four Brother bracket. Iowa's women won, but it was an ugly game and so back and forth. Hopefully they play better next time. And your Celtics won again! I think that is all for now, I need to get moving and get down to your room;) Keep up God's work, you are doing amazing things. Love you and miss you<3

  5. "For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him." Phil. 2:13
I love hearing the updates and seeing all the pictures. It is so cool to see how fast everything is progressing and that you are still enjoying your time with everyone. I hope you are all able to get to know each because you are all changing and experiencing this together. Ultimately no one else, not even past missioners will be able to connect with you about this trip besides the people next to you. (I hope you understand what I am saying, You can talk about this with past missioners but the people around you will understand your experience best!) You have new experiences and new things happening. Also keep making those connections with the Honduran people and give them lots of love from us back home.

Chris and Jack: I enjoy seeing you both in pictures and love seeing you both reconnect and make new friends. Cody had a wonderful birthday, well as good as it gets at 23! The farm is still here and we are enjoying some 40 degree weather. Enjoy your Saturday and miss you both! I hope you are giving other people crud as much as we get it at home from you!

    Keep doing God's work,
    Love,
    Isabelle Schmit

  6. Hey Leah and team! It's Katelyn here. I tried to comment on here a few times but google doesn't want me to so I sent it to my mom to post.

You all look like you are working really hard and moving right along on your projects. Keep it up! Cherish every moment you get with the kiddos. Soak it up and take a snapshot in your memory. I went on the Gehlen mission trip four years ago and I still think about my little Honduran buddies every day. Take a moment to reflect on what you are seeing. The love there is unmatched.

Leah, I hope you are putting all your farm skills to good use (; love seeing you in the pictures. I miss you like crazy! Have you gotten to see my little buddy yet?

Keep being the hands and feet of Christ.
    Love,
    Katelyn Langel
