A day in the city is just what the doctor ordered. We left after breakfast in 2 buses to head to the Basilica de Suyapa for mass. We walked around the Basilica and viewed the original church and visited the room of miracles. We also lit candles and said a prayer for loved ones. Mass was beautiful! We loved seeing the contrasts and similarities in mass between Honduras and the United States. After mass, we took some time to visit the gift shop and the museum of the Basilica. The picture with the red arrow added shows the view from the Basilica to where we are building our homes.
After that, the best burgers and fries in Honduras were on our minds. We went to a familiar restaurant where they took very good care of us with a taste of home. Following lunch, we broke up into groups and did some shopping. We even found delicious ice cream!
The ride back to the school was different for the 2 busses. The ladies bus was very quiet, some much needed shut eye was had. The boys, on the other hand had a karaoke party for their entertainment. We have been promised more of this at the worksite tomorrow.
Supper tonight was chicken and rice with fresh fruit, delicious yet again!
After supper we had the honor of welcoming Julio to speak with our group and teach us about his life. The students and adults thoroughly enjoyed this! Junta followed with some great conversations and some laughs too.
Now we are headed to bed, we plan to rise early to make some great progress on the worksite.
Thank you all for your continued support and prayers, we feel them here! Thank you also for your messages you have sent, they bring smiles!
