Hello All, Matt again. I've made the decision to repost all of the updates from Facebook, here to the blog so that if you don't have Facebook or a reluctant, you can find all the information here also. I will copy and paste updates word for word and will upload the same photos that were uploaded to Facebook. So, with no further ado, and a few days to catch up on, here is the update from March 20:
March 20, 2025
We made it! We have had a challenging couple of days but these students have made it a wonderful experience. We awoke between 3:30 and 4:30 to get ready for our flight. Let's just say we do not plan on sleeping at the airport again for a very long time!
Both teams made it to Honduras and were greeted by our dear friend Marta. She came with water, sandwiches and plantain chips. After our arrival, we needed to unload all those black bags. Due to some power line clearance issues, we had to take several trips with the trusty Toyota to get the bags here. After unpacking, we spent some time with the kids and then enjoyed a great supper of enchiladas and fresh fruit. We then enjoyed much needed showers and a junta meeting. After a brief power outage (fairly common), all are tucked in their beds and fast asleep. A good night's rest will be needed as we have tracks to make tomorrow. We are eager and ready.
