Another wonderful day is in the books! We slept in again and had a delicious breakfast. Wood was delivered so we spent the morning cutting wood and assembling 40 beds. We had all but 5 done before lunch and finished the rest after our siesta. The students also had the opportunity to use the Pila and do their own laundry. We had chicken and rice with fruit for lunch. This afternoon we took a walk down the road for an annual treat: Coca en la bolsa (quite literally coca cola in a baggie with a straw).
We returned to play with the children for the afternoon. There was coloring, drawing, soccer and much more. We also packed some gift bags for families.
We were pleasantly surprised that Father Patricio was at school today. Father Patricio quite literally founded ACOES, the group that has brought so much to he people of Honduras. He has been here 23 years improving lives. We got to hear from the teachers at the school and also some seminary students. Their stories were inspiring! We also had the opportunity to meet as a group as Deacon Dan reviewed the readings in English that we will hear tomorrow in Spanish.
After a delicious supper of beef tacos, we had junta and then a view of the city lights from the top of the hill. Upon returning to the school, a small surprise party was waiting for Deacon Dan. The cake and pinata were big hits!
We are turning in for a good night's sleep before our trip to town tomorrow
