Today has been a wonderful way to wrap up our journey. We spent the morning starting to sort donations and finishing gift bag deliveries. Several classrooms were blessed with donations from back home, including hand-made skirts, bracelets, and jump ropes. Our student missioners are soaking up every last minute with their new friends.
This afternoon, we took one final walk up to the worksite. It was warm and we are pretty sure the mountain grew since we last walked up it…it was a difficult climb. We met the families at the new homes for a ceremony. The new home owners received the keys to their homes, and Father Doug said a beautiful blessing over each new house. The team gathered for a photo with those we have been working with side-by-side for the past 10 days, along with the beaming families.
Once back in the compound, inventory began for the adults while the students played soccer and other games with the new friends they will miss so much.
We have plans to wrap up the evening with supper, a closing mass and junta. The next 15 hours will be a mix of tears of joy and sorrow. We would like to thank you all for all your visits to our site, and your thoughts and prayers. You truly carried us through on this mission, we felt your love! We are signing off, leaving a piece of our hearts here in Honduras, but looking forward to seeing our loved ones soon.
Trevor, jenna, .. this is your favorite sister inlaw to be(and your only of course haha i bet you miss me and ALLLLL my dry humor.) I promise you i have been trying to send you guys a message the last 3-4 days but it wasnt allowing me to log in and post a comment! I just wanted to let you both know how loved you are as the boys miss you guys around so much! Hudson has been asking for both of you so much, anytime someone walks in the back door he asks if it's auntie Jenna. And any time we're playing with firetrucks at home the driver is uncle T! Milo could have used the snuggles from both of you today as well :) tiny man had tubes put in. Needless to say We're all ready for you to be home! I love and miss you guys both. I'm so proud of the humble young people you are becoming! Keep doing God's work can't wait to see you (:
ReplyDeleteWOW!! I cannot believe your time in Honduras is coming to a close for physically being there. I know that each of you will always have Honduras in your hearts. You have done amazing things in such a short period of time. We are all so proud of you. And as you leave this prayer may be fitting!
ReplyDeleteDear Lord,
As we leave here, we ask continued prayers over this place that has been home for the past 9 days, and all those with whom we were blessed to meet and spend time. Lord, as we leave, we pray that the experiences we have had be not only great stories to share, but experiences that remain with us always. May the photographs we take home be not only mementos of our time, but reminders of our calling to serve you. As we drive back into our towns, may it mark not an ending, but a new beginning.
Above all Lord, we pray that as we look to the future, we will continue to look to you for guidance, to be a blessing to those around us, and that we will continue to look for ways to be engaged in “mission,” each and every day.
AMEN.
Miyah Michelle - This week has went by really fast. It was nice after school and I let Milo off his leash and he ran crazy outside around the house. He is ready to jump all over you when we get back with you tomorrow night. Marcus keeps saying he misses you. This week with ISASP testing at the jr./sr. high level has changed the daily schedule a lot. He is so ready for the regular schedule so his days are the same. Dad had a track meet at SDSU all day on Monday. Marcus and I will meet Dad in Sioux City tomorrow night to come to the airport. Both your bedroom and your make shift bedroom are ready for you too.
I cannot say it enough. I am PROUD of you and love everything about you and what you have just been part of. I cannot wait to hear everything you have to share and give you a huge hug! Try and relax and sleep tonight. It may be hard but it will make traveling tomorrow easier. Love you - Mom
Trevor and Jenna-
ReplyDeleteUnbelievable that 10 days have almost passed since you all began your mission trip. We are so incredibly proud of the gifts you two and the rest of the team have just bestowed upon the people of Honduras for the past week and a half. Trevor we miss the sound of you coming home and bounding up the stairs; although Beau and Carter are starting to sound just as loud. :) Jenna Lynn we definitely miss you stopping over for snuggles and hugs. So excited to see you both tomorrow night to welcome you back home. We pray for safe travels tomorrow and we pray for all of you as you say good bye to your new friends as it most certainly can’t be something easy to do. Love you both so very much! Dad, Danielle, Beau and Carter
Miss Miyah, I finally learned how to do this. Praying for safe travels back home tomorrow. Your little brother is soooooo anxious to have you home. God has used you in so many ways the past week. Love you, Aunt Nita
ReplyDeleteWow what a journey! Prayers for safe travels and lots of love coming your way on one of the hardest days!
ReplyDeleteKeep doing God's work,
Love,
