And we are back at it again

This morning we started off early again to try and beat the heat. Most went to the work site while a few went to deliver more gift bags. At the work site, doors are being hung, electrical is going in, windows are being added, and the roofs are going on. The painting is mostly done and just finishing up on the doors and touch ups. Many water breaks were needed as it’s a warm one today. The high is supposed to be 86 degrees, thank goodness for a little breeze and now shade from the roofs.

We were able to deliver 10 bags today to families and see some more homes of the third grade class that was selected for donations. Some students also got to go visit classrooms to hand out bracelets and jump ropes. After that some girls did more laundry by hand on the pila and helped clean up our rooms. Then they helped our cooks in the kitchen prep for supper.

Another day full of good food, laughs, a tire change and the occasional scare from a pigeon. Final touches should be added to the house to get them ready for the families so early night tonight. Time is winding down fast and we love hearing your comments every night so keep them coming!

  3. Hello everyone,
Wow, look at those beautiful houses. Pretty soon they will be homes for the wonderful families. All because of your selfless work. Keep showing up for the families and all those children who have touched your heart. These next couple of days will be the hardest. You will cry, you will laugh, you will cry and laugh at the same time but in this time you will also feel a great love and heartache for the amazing people you met. Turn to God and cherish every moment. Do not be sad because it is over but be happy that it happened! (quote from someone).
    Keep doing God's Work,
    Love,
    Isabelle Schmit

  7. Hello Missioners, sounds like another great day. Trevor and Jenna, we are sure missing your absence at home. Jenna, nobody is calling to check up on me like you do. Trevor, the milk has spoiled and all the Little Debbie snacks expired because nobody eats them but you. It's also weird not tripping over all your shoes at the front door. The house is just way too quiet. Definitely not ready for that, but glad to be picking you up Thursday to hear all about your experiences. Miss you both a lot. Love and hugs, Mom and Bob

  8. Hi David and everyone. It looks like another day hard at work. What an amazing job you are all doing!
Good news for the rabbit-- still hanging out under the cage. The girls went with Dad to the farm last night and they said he was scared and did not come out from under the cage. Hmmm wonder if the animals spooked him and which one(s).?
I told you that I was not looking forward to using the car well today when I started it, it was very slow to start. I needed to get gas so I went to Hyvee and I thought it was not going to start for me at all. It did, then when I went to drive...I could only go 10 mph on 12th Street, a very busy road at 9:00-ish in the morning. I ended up putting my hazard lights on and everyone was passing me. Tessah kept telling me that this was so embarrassing. I was apparently going so slow that at one point she unbuckled her seatbelt and was up in the middle talking to me telling she was so embarrassed. I had to tell her to get back in her seat belt even though we were going slow we still had to be buckled in. I was glad to finally pull down our street. Of course it happened when I don't have the van. Dad will fix it.
I hope you are doing well. We miss you and love you very much! Enjoy your last days in Honduras and we will see you Thursday.
    Love,
    Mom

  9. Hi David. The car runs great! It started right up and I zipped around town. Well, I had to ask Scott how we were doing with our brackets, not so good. You are way ahead of me and Carson, but that is where the good news ends. As Mom mentioned earlier Chris and I were able to get that big limb cut down and we didn't even hit the house. Chris was able to get a rope slung around the top (took a couple of try's with a hammer tied to one end), he stood out in the grove and pulled while I used the pole chainsaw to cut and cut and cut some more. Way too big of a limb for that small of a chainsaw, but perseverance pays off and finally it came crashing down right where we wanted it. Now the hard work, cutting it up and moving it into the grove. While we were at it, we cut some more branches off a couple more trees, so there is plenty for you to cut up and move around. I didn't want you to feel left out. I will see you in a couple days, be safe. Love Dad

  10. Miss Miyah - hope all is going as planned and the final touches are going on the houses. Mrs. Bickford was at school today. She said the team was really working hard! The project at home while you were gone was getting the carpet back down in your bedroom. I am proud to tell you it is done and the carpet has even been cleaned!! Marcus sprained his ankle yesterday at track practice. He was running on the track and tripped on a crack. I think it was like your fall at River Valley. He can put weight on it, but it hurts. He hates it, but he loves trying to get us to help with everything. Milo, your crazy energizer dog, is looking forward to your return. Don't worry, he has gotten a lot of love the last 8 days, but he misses you. I told someone today that I would understand if you were on this mission trip for a longer period of time and I absolutely love what you are doing........but I miss you!!
Enjoy the last couple days. Continue to keep your heart open and fill it with all the things God has sent you there for. I can only imagine. See you soon. Love Mom
