After a beautiful Send-Off at Gehlen Catholic School this afternoon, the missioners headed out of the school door and through the tunnel of students, friends, and families. We feel very blessed to be starting our mission to construct 3 homes, build more than 15 bunk beds, teach English lessons, and deliver gift bags of all the donated items to the poor of Nueva Capital.
In Omaha we checked into our hotel rooms and then ate at a buffet. We had our first nightly meeting, which will turn into our juntas in Honduras. Tonight's meeting gave me a chance to go through the details of our day, which will begin with a 2:20 a.m. wake up call. Best Western kindly provides a cold breakfast for us at 3 a.m. so we can board the bus at 3:30. Seivert let United know that a large group carrying 72 50-lb. duffle bags will check in at 3:45 when they open.
As I type this first blog of the mission trip, I hope all missioners are able to sleep, preparing themselves to work hard on their mission trip. Please stay in touch with us as "WE WALK BY FAITH."
Hello everyone - I wish I could have been there for the send-off, but I am watching my little girl play her last year of softball in South Carolina. You are on a great journey with a lot of great people that will become your best friends before you know it --- absorb everything you can. This trip will end very fast, so enjoy it while you can and appreciate the opportunity you have been given to be a part of this group. Become a part of this family as soon as you can --- apply yourself and you will never forget this trip or the people you will spend it with! God bless you all. I wish you safe travels and the best success for the entire endeavor. -JD Hunt
