This morning we ate a breakfast of eggs, bacon, and fruit.
Then we had a bit of organized chaos. Some missioners went to the houses. Some
missioners finished preparing and delivering gift bags. Some missioners went
into the third, fourth, and fifth grades to teach the rosary – and give each
student a rosary and pamphlet with the prayers. Halfway through the morning,
the first crew of gift bag deliverers returned and went to work on the houses,
while a different group came in to do the deliveries. We also switched the
rosary teaching crew. Although we were all over the place, everything did get
accomplished.
Everyone came together to eat a lunch of beef, mixed
vegetables, potatoes, and fruit. We are definitely being well fed. Shortly
after lunch Kevin went out to the playground bleachers for a photo with Fr.
Patricio as he presented the statue that Jerry Traufler carved. You’ll see the
students around them who will be attending the new school, Santa Maria, once it
opens. The statue will be placed in a prominent area of that school. They were
all extremely excited to receive the statue. They said it was an answer to
their prayers.
The afternoon was quite similar to our morning adventures –
deliveries, rosary teaching, painting the houses, doing the wiring, etc. The
houses will be totally complete by the end of tomorrow. Dennis has to finish
the wiring in house two and then do all of it in house 3. Andi plans to take a
paint crew to finish a little bit in the inside of house 3and do touch-up work.
The other missioners are going to build bunk beds and picnic tables. We also
will do a few more gift bag deliveries. The mural is done and only needs
everyone to sign his/her name to it. As you can see, much is being
accomplished! We look forward to the few remaining days.
Carla and Sage, Hope it’s going good. Time is going fast. Should
get houses done tomorrow. The kids are so cute and friendly. Food is good, showers
very cold. Jade and the rest of kids doing the rosary now with some older boys
here. See you Friday night. Love ya and miss you. Dad
Ruth and girls:
Everything is good with me. The
mission seems to be going very well. The projects are starting to wrap up. Been able to get in my naps most days so you
know I am happy. See you Friday night! DAD
Hola Mary, Matt, Becca, Michelle, Nathan and Emily: I really miss all of you, but I have really
been enjoying the notes that you sent along! I am doing well and have been
enjoying the experience. I got to spend
some time today playing with the kids of the families that we are building the
homes for. It reminded me of playing with you guys when you were little. They kept
asking to be tossed in the air until I was too tired to do it anymore. I have been trying to use a little more
Spanish this time, but no, Michelle, I have not had the chance to use “verde”
yet. Emily – thanks for the gift! Can’t wait to see all of you and share more
of the stories with you. Love you, Jim
(Klein)
Hello family, all here is well. I am enjoying playing with
the kids a lot and getting many hugs. I am having a lot of fun and making new
friends. I can’t wait to share my memories with you. I love and miss all you!
