Just spoke with Frank. He is with the team at The General Hotel. Nothing is working very well at all - they have worked on this for hours already. There are very few good options. There were some options for tomorrow from San Pedro Sula if we would split up the team into multiple airports in the U.S. - 4 or 5 here, 4 or 5 there, etc. Frank rejected all those options knowing full well that would not be good.
Continental realizes they are duty bound to get this team home but the options they have in Tegucigalpa are very limited. I really don't know tonight whether they can get out even tomorrow.
I have contacted our agent in Oklahoma for help. She began to work on this right away and will be in touch with Continental. Hopefully she can get this worked out. Then I will let you know.
My cell number is: 712-540-3062
The two cell numbers in Honduras are: 011-504-9781-4235
and 011-504-9669-4657
Carolyn and Frank will purchase more time for both phones and let your sons and daughters call.
I don't know what else to say. We are doing everything possible to ensure their safety and get them home as soon as possible. I am very sorry.
Richard Seivert
You certainly don't need to apologize. This is something that couldn't be helped. Thank you for keeping us so up to date on what is going on. We will continue to watch the blog.Thank you! Hang in there kids!
ReplyDeleteWe are not worried. The most important thing now is they are all safe. We would rather have them wait it out then to try to risk it. Richard, we would like to thank you for working so hard and keeping us posted. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to help. We will continue to pray for a safe return. Kids, make the most of it. Nick, love ya, we will see you soon. God bless!
ReplyDeleteRichard, my vote would be to split the group up into smaller groups with kids and chaperones and get them home. It's more important now to get them home! They'll be safe in smaller groups and it's not like we're having them met in Omaha by a big bus. Thanks, Bob Spears
ReplyDeleteKatelyn & Kyle,
ReplyDeleteGreat to hear your voices ! We are so excited for your homecoming. They will get your flights all figured out soon. Enjoy the hotel. We love you, Mom & Dad
No need to be sorry, Richard. We know you are all working very hard on this, and that our kids will be home as soon as possible.

ReplyDeleteFirst, Mr. Seivert - thank you for all your efforts . It will be ok.
Now - Zach - It was so great to hear your voice. And yeah I cannot wait to see you and everyone. I have visions of all of you walking up that walkway at the Omaha airport while all of us are smiling and cheering.
You all have been an inspiration.
Take this set back and make it a POSITIVE thing. We will see you soon.

ReplyDeleteWow! Who could have predicted this huh? However, a giant thank you to Richard, Cindy and Chris as well as everyone else for keeping the kids and parents in the know. Thank you to our chaperones who are probably more than our kids wanting to be home. I truly LOVED hearing Bailee's voice--so much that when we were cut off--I added international calling to my cell:)! Reception was crystal and I could hear water running as I am positive everyone is enjoying this forgotten luxury! God Bless and praying that the solution can be found quickly--even if it means splitting up by teams. I know you will do what you feel is best for everyone--thanks again for all you are doing!
