Kuemper Team Is in Honduras

We watched the plane land at 3:00. It had been scheduled to land at 11:55, and since Francis wanted to be sure we were there before the team, we were at the airport here in Honduras by 9:30 a.m. That made it a loooong day at the airport. We were greatly relieved to see the team come around the corner in their blue shirts after going through Customs.

The military transport truck was already waiting at the airport to haul the bags to Santa Teresa School. The baggage handlers had the duffle bags outside and ready in short order. The team loaded the bags onto the transport truck; then all climbed into Carlos's bus for the trip up the mountain. Marta made sure everyone received his/her water bottle so everyone could start hydrating.

We arrived at the compound a little before 5. The cooks had supper waiting for the team, who barely had time to unload the duffle bags into the library before sitting down to eat. They enjoyed a meal of steak, tortillas, rice, cucumbers, tomatoes, and watermelon. Afterward mattresses, blankets, and pillows were distributed and sleeping quarters arranged. I've heard that the first junta meeting will take place at 8 p.m.

After today a team member will be blogging the team information for you. I'm helping out tonight to give them a chance to settle in and get a little organized. Believe me, that takes some time to do in a place like Honduras. While trying to get things done, other jobs keep popping up. When your attention is taken by other chores, a person tends to forget what he/she had started doing. I hope you get the picture.

Anyway, everyone can breathe easier knowing that the team is here and raring to go. I can hardly wait to take them to the Gehlen team's houses tomorrow so they can see what they will be doing in a short amount of time.

Welcome to Honduras and mission work!

Carolyn
